Tetsy Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 July 2026
Tetsy (application id com.kursx.tts) is a text-to-speech (TTS) / AI-voice application that converts text you provide into spoken audio using a range of TTS providers. This policy explains what data the app and its backend collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Tetsy mobile, desktop and web apps and to the backend service hosted at tetsy.net.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The party responsible for processing personal data (the data controller) is:
Stanislau Kurs (KursX)
Email: apps.kursx@gmail.com
The data controller is the person who decides on the purposes and means of processing your personal data.
2. What data we collect
2.1 Account data
You can use Tetsy with a Google account or an email-and-password account. Depending on how you sign in, we store:
- Sign in with Google: your email address, your Google profile picture URL, and a Google authentication token, plus timestamps. We verify your Google ID token but do not store your Google password.
- Email registration: your email address and your password stored only in a salted, hashed form (bcrypt — we never store or can read your plain-text password), plus an email-confirmation token.
- An internal account identifier and an authentication token used to keep you signed in.
2.2 Text you convert to speech
The text you submit for synthesis is sent through our backend to the third-party TTS provider you choose (see section 4) so that provider can generate the audio, which is then streamed back to your device. We do not store the text content of your synthesis requests. For billing and usage limits we record only aggregate counts — the number of characters and the number of tokens used per provider per day — not the text itself. If a synthesis request fails, the request may be temporarily included in an error diagnostic sent to the developer so the problem can be fixed; such diagnostics are not used for any other purpose.
2.3 Usage statistics
To operate the token/credit system we store, per account, per day and per provider: the number of characters synthesised, the number of tokens spent, and your remaining token balances.
2.4 Purchase data
When you buy token packages or a subscription through Google Play, we store the purchase confirmation returned by Google — order ID, purchase token, product ID, purchase time, quantity, status, billing region and Google's raw purchase response — so we can grant your purchase and validate subscriptions. Payments are processed by Google Play; we do not receive or store your card or bank details.
2.5 Technical and diagnostic data
Requests to our backend include technical data such as the app version, your device time zone, a user-agent string and network information. On Android we use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash and error reports (device model, OS version, stack traces) so we can diagnose problems. Crash reporting is disabled in debug builds.
2.6 In-app analytics
On Android we use Firebase Analytics to record a small set of in-app events (for example: a purchase button was tapped, a payment succeeded, an audio file was shared, the TTS service started). Tetsy explicitly disables the Android advertising ID (AD_ID) — we do not collect it and do not use your data for advertising.
2.7 Website analytics
Our website (tetsy.net) uses a self-hosted, cookie-free analytics system. It records anonymous events such as the page opened, the interface language, referral source, UTM campaign parameters and a timestamp. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
3. Why we use your data and the legal basis
| Purpose | Data used | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Provide the app, authenticate you, keep you signed in | Account data | Performance of a contract |
| Generate speech from your text | Submitted text (transient) | Performance of a contract |
| Meter usage, enforce token limits, prevent abuse | Usage statistics | Performance of a contract / legitimate interests |
| Process purchases and subscriptions | Purchase data | Performance of a contract |
| Diagnose crashes and errors, improve reliability | Technical and diagnostic data | Legitimate interests |
| Understand feature usage and marketing reach | In-app and website analytics | Legitimate interests |
4. Third parties we share data with
We share data only with service providers necessary to run Tetsy. Each processes data under its own privacy policy.
- TTS providers — to generate audio, the text you submit is sent to the provider you select for that request: OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Amazon (AWS Polly), IBM Watson or Speechify. Do not submit sensitive personal information you would not want processed by these providers.
- Google Sign-In — for authentication when you choose to sign in with Google.
- Google Play Billing — to process purchases and subscriptions.
- Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) — for in-app event analytics and crash reporting.
We do not sell your personal data.
5. On-device processing
To suggest a voice that matches your text, Tetsy detects the language of your text on Android using Google ML Kit's on-device language identification. This runs locally on your device; the text is not sent to a server for language detection.
6. Device permissions (Android)
- Internet / network state — to reach TTS providers and our backend.
- Notifications — to show synthesis and export progress.
- Ignore battery optimizations — to keep long synthesis and audio playback running in the background.
- System TTS engine — Tetsy can register as a system text-to-speech engine so other apps can read text aloud through it.
7. Data retention
We keep your account and usage data for as long as your account exists. Purchase records are kept as long as needed for the service and to meet legal and accounting obligations. The text you synthesise is not retained. Anonymous analytics are kept in aggregate.
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at apps.kursx@gmail.com. Depending on your country, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Deleting your account and data
You can request deletion of your account and associated data from within the app, or by visiting https://tetsy.net/remove. For accounts created with Google, we send a confirmation link to your account email; following it permanently deletes your account and linked Google account record from our database.
9. Data storage and international transfers
Our backend and database are hosted on servers located in the European Union. Some third-party providers listed in section 4 may process data on servers in other countries, including the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by the safeguards offered by those providers.
10. Children
Tetsy is not directed to children under the age required to consent to data processing in your country, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data — passwords are hashed, provider API keys are held only on our backend, and traffic is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
13. Contact
For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at apps.kursx@gmail.com.
